What Is Open Source Software Database Professional Certification (OSS-DB Professional Certification)?

This is a certification for IT engineers provided by the non-profit organization LPI-Japan in Japan and by EDUCO for outside of Japan to certify the techniques and knowledge concerning the open source database (OSS-DB) properly and strictly from a neutral perspective.

OSS-DB is a qualification certification for engineers involved in OSS-DB system. OSS-DB system is commonly used and the number of company is increasing each year relying on the system.
This exam adopts "PostgreSQL 9.0" as the standard RDBMS, which is widely used in enterprise systems.

There are two levels in this certification system: "Silver" and "Gold". A certified IT engineer of each level should have the following skills.

OSS-DB OSS-DB Gold
Engineers capable of improving, operating and managing a large-scale database system with consulting ability.
OSS-DB Silver
Engineers capable of designing, developing, implementing and operating a database system.

  • Certification requirements: Passing OSS-DB Exam Gold with effective OSS-DB Silver
  • Active certification status(*): Five years

  • Certification requirements: Passing OSS-DB Exam Silver
  • Active certification status(*): Five years

(*)Once a person is certified OSS-DB Silver or OSS-DB Gold, recertification within "5 years" is required to RETAIN an ACTIVE certification status.
